Qristyl Frazier's Design on Project Runway Season 6, Episode 1- Love it or not so much?

For those of you who are fans of Project Runway, I hope you're tuning in to catch Season 6 on Lifetime.

As most of you know, this season is even more exciting for the plus size community as Project Runway is featuring plus size designer Qristyl Frazier! I am definitely cheering her on and wishing her much success!

Last week, Episode 1 had Ms. Frazier in the bottom three for her red carpet design pictured to the right. Judges found the design schizophrenic and poorly executed.

Personally I liked the dress even though I have to admit I would have preferred it without the print. But even with the print, the dress spoke of Ms. Frazier's creativity and willingness to think outside the box.

What's your opinion? Vote below and be sure to catch Project Runway tonight on Lifetime.

What do you think of jumpsuits?

Jumpsuits are back this summer and it's a love hate relationship. Some feel that full figures and jumpsuits should stay far apart, others love them. Read the article Jumpsuits: A trend for plus size women, take a look at some of the styles currently available and then take the poll.

As always chime in and let me know what you think. A fashion do or not so much?

Have You Been Discriminated Against at Work?

We know discrimination in the work place is against the law, but what about when the  discrimination is based on a person's body weight? Recently I ran across an employment ad that listed physically attractiveness as a requirement for employment. Unfortunately I received no response to my request for an explanation and what it (physical attractiveness) had to do with performing secretarial work. What that ad did do for me was it got me to thinking; How many plus size people, both men and women suffer from size discrimination at their place of work or when looking for work?

What about you? Do you feel that you have ever been passed over for a promotion at work because of your body size? Have you ever been to a job interview that you feel you lost because of your weight? Have supervisors or coworkers ever made negative comments regarding your weight?

Are you accepting of yourself as a full figured and curvy woman?

There's a wonderful movement underway to promote size acceptance in the fashion world. My goal with Curvy Life Styles is to promote size acceptance with the individual person so that she can not only fully enjoy the benefits from all the great fashions that are (hopefully) coming our way, but also enjoy her life to the fullest and see herself for the beautiful and phenomenal woman that I know she is.

Faith 21 at Forever 21: A Plus Size Victory?

As everyone is aware by now, trendy chain clothing store Forever 21 will by May 1 carry a line of clothing sized for full figured ladies(at least up to a 2X) called Faith 21. It's taken me awhile to actually post on this because of conflicted feelings on the subject.  In short I don't have faith in Forever 21.

Yes, we plus sized and fabulously curvy young women deserve to have fashionable and trendy clothing available to us. We rule as the majority in this country and it's far pass the time that retailers took notice. My conflict is this.Read more and take poll

Should plus size designers use full figure, curvy models?

Ralph Lauren at ShopStyle

What bothers me more than mu-mu's and granny dresses? Designers who use tiny, non-curvy women to model their plus size designs. Why does this bother me so much? If you consider that the designer made a specific choice to use women that were the complete opposite of those who purchase his or her plus size designs, then it almost seems like a slap in the face. Why would I buy the clothing of a designer who doesn't feel that full figured, curvy women like myself are attractive enough to showcase his plus size designs?

Perhaps it wouldn't bother me so much if full figured, curvy girls were used to model clothing geared towards size 0 to 6 women. Or if beautiful curvy women were deemed acceptable to walk the runways at fashion shows. In the meantime, how do we promote size acceptance when we buy clothing from designers who don't accept us or acknowledge how beautiful and fabulous we are in their fashions?

What do you think? Does it bother you when you see women who are obviously not full figured and curvy modeling plus size clothing? Should designers of plus size clothing use plus sized models?

Do you see the word "Fat" as a negative word?

In the movement for full figured tolerance the usage of the word "fat" has become an acceptable way of referring to oneself. Historically the word "fat" has been used in a hurtful way to describe persons of a curvy nature and has never been thought of in an endearing or positive way. What do you think? Do you think of the word 'Fat' as a negative word that is harmful and demeaning or do you think its perfectly fine to use if you are full figured yourself?
