Okay, so I normally love what Baby Phat Plus has to offer full figure women. And Kimora? I think she is fabulous. What isn't so fabulous is that these models aren't anywhere near ever being plus size. In fact they aren't even your size 8 models that are usually passed off as plus size!
Enough is enough!! I can't even look at these dresses without the distinct feeling that it wasn't a woman like me that Baby Phat had in mind no matter the "Plus" on the label. It angers me to no end that a size zero was used to model these dresses. I want to see what this dress looks like on a woman who has a body with some meat on her bones. No disrespect to the model, she looks great but the outfits do say plus size and well, that she isn't.
So it seems for every two steps that the fashion industry takes forward in selection and style of our plus size attire, they are bound to take a step or two back in some other way. In this case by passing over what must have certainly been some very beautiful plus size models in favor of thin yet again.
Another dress by Baby Phat plus, but this one, I'm not sold on it's fabulosity (or that of it's accessories!). I like the dress well enough, I'm just not sure I'm feeling the whole checkered theme.
What about you? Do you like the dress, bag, sandals and all? Or are you not really feeling this whole outfit? I want to hear what you have to say, so as always let me know!
I have, up to this point, been in like with most of Baby Phat's dresses for the plus sized and curvy. Unfortunately, these latest two dresses in my opinion, miss the mark when it comes to fabulous.
The maxi dress, while cute enough, seems like it's cut too large. Take notice of the black cami the model is wearing beneath it for starters. It's not a part of the dress, which sort of implies that it (the dress) was too big for our model and the black cami was added in an effort to make it work for the photo shoot. Not to mention that it almost looks like she's stepping on the hem of the dress. One of the major sins when dressing your curvy body is to wear clothing that fits too large. You don't want to look frumpy, sloppy or like your wearing a pretty designer tent!
The color block dress, well let's just say the reasons that this particular dresses doesn't do it for me are too numerous to mention.
What about you? Do you think these two dresses are fabulous or not so much? Let me know!
This sexy halter dress by Baby Phat has been marked down! And because you know I love sharing a bargain click on the link, Macy's has the price even lower!
Green is the color of the day for St. Patrick's day, but adding a complementary color such as lavender gives excitement and Spring freshness to your appearance. Many full figured and curvy women feel that they have to avoid bright colors and pastels, but that simply isn't true. There is absolutely no reason for Curvy Plus size ladies to shy away from colors and prints when worn properly.
The key to becoming comfortable and accepting of your curvy body is knowing what looks best on your particular body type. For me I'm the classic apple shape. Basically this means that I carry most of my weight in my stomach and chest area.
This dress is perfect for me because it accentuates the areas that I want to flaunt, my fab cleavage and fantastic legs. By knowing what works for me (in this case it's the low neckline, empire waist and shorter length) I know for certain that my curvaceous body will rock this dress. Do you know your body type and what works best for it?
Note: The description for this dress is that it is an A-line. I see it more as an empire waist, but either style works for the apple shaped body.
